I think one cause I could pursue is helping the poor. I know there are not a lot of homeless people wondering around the valley, but there are a lot of people that could use our help. Associated Charities is a good organization. I think it would be great if more people would donate food items to them all year round, and not just around the holidays. People could volunteer to go door to door each week. They would stake out on a different part of town every week in order not to frustrate the home owners.
Another good thing to do would be to spend time with the elderly. You know it is not a lot of fun sitting around all day without anything to do. I think a good project to do would be to go to nursing homes and even to elderly known to be alone throughout the community. You could bring board games, or just chit-chat about stuff. They could tell you stories of the good old days, and you could tell them about your life.

I know, why do people want to donate food more around the holdays and just forget about it the rest of the year? Feeding the poor is always a good thing, and though there might not be as many homeless in this area like you said there is always other places to help! And the elderly can be good to talk to at times, and can teach you things from their old war stories, or just stories in general. I know I would like to have someone visit me if I was old and lonely.

Wow these are both such good ideas because both are a huge issue in our society. I loved volunteering at associated charities this winter and i also love spending time at the nursing home. I am actually thinking about going into jerryatrics….(sp)? Ha! But keep up the good work…i can’t wait to see where you go with this:)

Wow Levi! You have two super ideas, I hope you do follow through with one of them. I would be more than happy to help you with either of these. I think associated charities is a wonderful organization that does help tons of people in many ways, I know personally. I also love spending time with elderly people, they seem so wise and peaceful, well most of them at least. Keep up the good work!

You should start up a club for donations! We have Hi-Teens and the Keyclub here, but maybe there could be a club that just focuses on donating food to the poor in our school. Raising awareness about the elderly is also a good idea. I think it would make them very happy if kids came by to visit them and you could also learn a few things from their experiences. ^^

I think that if we were able to bring in a homeless shelter that would help alot. It so much ahrder to be homeless in a small town because there isn’t that help like in the much larger cities. There defenitaly isn’t the typical standard of homeless in this town. Its mostly people who can’t afford the basic needs. Not neccessarly living out on the street. But I really like this idea!

I like the idea of raising awarness for those in poverty, it sounds like you have a good plan, good luck.
